Titanic Vintage Festival
Sligo Folk Park is pleased to announce the 21st annual Vintage & Family Fun Day which will be taking place 30th May from 12-5pm. This year’s festival theme is focused on the Titanic and the Sligo passengers who boarded the ill-fated vessel. A replica 33 foot Titanic ship will be with its captain and first mate that will be showcasing the ship on the day. The cutting of the rope that released a lifeboat by a Sligo woman will be re-enacted. In addition the music that was played when the boat was going down will be performed by a choir on the day.
Further attractions on the day will include a WWI memorabilia display, a Port Huron traction engine, Vintage cars, tractors, farm machinery, stationary engines, motorbikes, a Yeats 150th Commemoration (including Books & Memorabilia), Emigration & Famine stories, the largest farm display in Ireland, Live music from the Duets band, vintage machinery, crafts and displays as well as food from the on-site Beehive Restaurant which will include a selection of Titanic period food and colcannon.
The vintage day will host a range of kid’s activities including the following: Titanic drawing competition, a petting zoo, a range of games (giant snakes & ladders, foot pool, sack race etc.). The event will hosted in the picturesque village of Riverstown and promises to be a great day out for all the family.
